She talked about how the entire classroom experience helped to prepare her for this opportunity. Brandon Goff is shown giving a presentation about his job shadowing experience at AG3 Inc. He was hosted by a Lake Tech graduate, Jessica Straub. At the end of the week we offered congratulations and bid farewell to our graduating students, Karen Horton, Jessica Pantoja, and Brandon Goff. Medical Assisting – The Medical Assisting students lined the halls this past week to cheer on three students who will be leaving to go out to practicum. Adriana Reyes, Lavern Pettiford, and Barry Kamm have completed their classroom work, and are prepared to go out and utilize the many skills they have learned during their time here at Lake Technical College. They will be a great asset to any physician, and through compassion and knowledge they will make a difference in the lives of the patients they will care for. A lot of hard work and we are proud of you!

EMS, Emergency Medical Technician – Saturday, December 20th, was mock trauma day for the EMT students. This day is the high spot of the Trauma module. Students participated in simulated trauma scenarios, assessing, treating, stabilizing and moving “patients” involved in anything from falls, vehicle accidents, industrial incidents, to altercations. At the end of the day student teams were formed and the teams competed in timed events such as splinting, patient packaging, and bandaging. Students also had a change to visit with the Orlando Regional Medical Center’s Air Care team. The crew showed students the helicopter and talked with the students about their role in trauma and critical care services, providing definitive care within the “golden hour” – the hour after a trauma injury occurs.
