Administrative Office Specialist
This was a productive week for our Business programs. The Accounting Operations program had numerous OCP completers and many others are preparing to graduate soon. In addition to the busy course work, the students welcomed Mr. Jeffrey Lanning of Thrivent Financial. He discussed Identity Theft and engaged all of the students in a fast-paced and an informative session.

Pharmacy Technician
This week we celebrated National Pharmacy Technician Day on October 15th with a cake and ice cream social. This is a nationally recognized day to celebrate and thank our pharmacy technicians for their invaluable contributions to patient health, safety, and because they are an integral part of the healthcare team. It was a day for our students to reflect on their upcoming careers and realize the impact they will have on patients and fellow pharmacy professionals.
Practical Nursing
Students in Debbie Smith’s Practical Nursing program held a cultural potluck event this week. This project allows students to learn more about people from other cultures in order to understand and serve others. In addition, they worked on their Head to Toe Assessments and an anatomy project where groups had to present four areas of the anatomy. This hands-on project allowed for students to utilize different learning styles to help them master this often difficult topic.

Culinary students enjoyed a hands on cake decorating class with our guest Cake Decorator Shannon Gentes. Shannon graduated from our program 15 years ago and shared her experiences since graduating as well as her talents.

Mrs. Vicky Pyle, one of our advisory board committee members and Director of IT at AdventHealth Waterman, reached out to us to ask if we had students that would like to help them install PC’s within the new Emergency Department that is being renovated. Two students were able to take advantage of this opportunity and assisted the hospital IT staff Monday and Tuesday of this week.
Students have also started planning the activity for the Fall Festival. We have combined this event into an opportunity to learn about the 5 phases of project management and use these phases to organize and complete the activity.
TRANSPORTATION & LOGISTICS
Automotive Service Technology
The student pictured is performing a tune up as part of one of his competencies. In the process he’s learning the difference between a tune up on an older vehicle compared to a new vehicle as well as the procedures involved and the tools and materials needed to perform the task.
