The Alachua County Fire Rescue is currently hiring for Firefighter/EMT 56 or Firefighter/Paramedic.  This position requires FireTEAM and a valid NTN CPAT.  Only CPATs from NTN will be accepted.  All testing must be completed by August 26, 2016.

Salary Information: $10.01 – $15.52 Hourly; $33,327.92 – $51,658.55 Annually

Department Overview: Alachua County is a fully career fire rescue organization. Total personnel for the department is currently 258. ACFR operated 13 ALS transports and 10 ALS fire suppression units. Minimum staffing is 2 per transport, 3 per urban engine and 4 per rural engine company. We cover a total of 962 square miles of both urban and rural areas of the county.

The community hosts multiple educational facilities such as the University of Florida and Santa Fe College. The area is a major center of heath care in North Florida and hosts several leading facilities in the health care industry. The area contacts multiple natural habitats, nature preserves springs and other recreational opportunities. Gainesville is the largest city within the community and there are several other smaller municipalities within Alachua County.  All of these factors make Alachua County a dynamic, fun active area to locate.

Minimum Qualifications for the Firefighter/EMT 56:

Graduation from high school or equivalent. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination and criminal history background check are required prior to employment. Upon submission of application, proof of the following must be provided:

  1. Current State of Florida Firefighter Certificate of Compliance.
  2. Current State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certificate.
  3. A valid State of Florida Drivers license free from moving violation citations for a period of not less than six months preceding employment; and within the past three years applicant must have had no convictions for reckless driving or driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances and must not have had a driver’s license suspended pursuant to Florida law.
  4. A sworn affidavit attesting to the non-use of tobacco products.
  5. Certification by the Alachua County Medical Director is required and must be maintained as a condition of employment.
  6. CPAT Passing score submitted to Alachua County Human Resources Office through National Testing Network.com (NTN)

Minimum Qualifications for the Firefighter/Paramedic 56:

Graduation from high school or equivalent. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination and criminal history background check are required prior to employment. Upon submission of application, proof of the following must be provided:

  1. Current State of Florida Firefighter Certificate of Compliance.
  2. Current State of Florida Paramedic certificate with expiration date shown and attending privileges as approved by the County’s Medical Director.
  3. Current designation as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider.
  4. A valid State of Florida Drivers license free from moving violation citations for a period of not less than six months preceding employment; and within the past three years applicant must have had no convictions for reckless driving or driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances and must not have had a driver’s license suspended pursuant to Florida law.
  5. A sworn affidavit attesting to the non-use of tobacco products.
  6. CPAT Passing score submitted to Alachua County Human Resources Office through National Testing Network.com (NTN)

Upon appointment to position, the following must be completed and maintained as a condition of employment:

  1. Successful completion of a course in Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support/International Trauma Life Support must be obtained within the first twelve months upon appointment to position.
  2. Certification by the Alachua County Medical Director within the first month of employment and maintain this certification as a condition of employment.
