Have you made your New Year’s resolution yet? Registration for the January 23, 2012-June 20, 2012 term is now open, so why not consider enrolling in one of Lake Tech’s “Career in a Year” programs? Lake Tech’s training is short-term, hands-on, and costs a lot less than most private technical colleges.
Several programs have immediate openings for new students including: Automotive Collision Repair and Refinishing, Digital Design 1 & 2, Facials Specialty, Nails Specialty, day or evening Applied Welding Technologies, and Medical Assisting. The following short term classes are also registering students: Phlebotomy, begins January 24, meets Tuesday and Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.; Air Conditioning Helper, begins January 23, meets Monday and Thursday from 6:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.; Introduction to P/V Solar Installation, begins February 21, meets Tuesday and Wednesday, from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.; and Solar Thermal, begins January 10, meets Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Online instruction is available through theed2go program. Lake Tech is partnering with Lake County Schools to offer the following classes at the former Mascotte Elementary School: English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and GED prep, begins January 23, each class meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. – noon; Automotive Window Film Installation, begins January 10, meets Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to noon; and Solar, Safety, and Security Film Installation, begins January 10, meets Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Financial aid, such as Pell grants and other scholarships, may be available for those who qualify.
Prospective students are strongly encouraged to complete their financial aid paperwork for the spring 2012 term as soon as possible by securing a PIN at www.pin.ed.govopens in a new window, then applying online at www.fafsa.ed.govopens in a new window.
Students attending a Lake County public high school, Florida private secondary school, or home school may be eligible to participate in dual enrollment if they meet required criteria. Contact the Lake Technical Center Admission’s Office at 352-589-2250 for more information.
Adult Education day and evening classes, including English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Education Development (GED), and Applied Academics for Adult Education (AAAE) are available at various locations throughout Lake County.
