Glamour, fashion, and flair! Come watch Lake Technical Center’s Cosmetology program’s first annual Red Carpet Fundraising Event. The excitement begins at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Lake Tech. Five teams of students will be creating a red carpet look for their selected model. Models will experience the thrill of walking the red carpet with an escort and then return with the other members of their team. The public is invited to attend.
The models will be judged on their hair, makeup, and nails. The judges are: Ms. Deanna Thomas, Adult Education Program Lead/Cosmetologist; Mr. Robert Tolvo, Owner of Robert Tolvo Hair Design; Ms. Toni Hawes, Cosmetologist; and Ms. Cheryl Gamble, Cosmetologist at Hair Strand.
According to Ms. Tonyia Dawson, Cosmetology Department Chairperson, “This project has brought the new and advanced students together. Students are mingling and working as an awesome, creative team.”
This event is being held as a fundraiser for the SkillsUSA Florida State Championships, which will be held in Pensacola, Florida, April 28-30. Lake Tech will be sending 10 dual enrolled high school and adult students who will be competing in cosmetology; nails specialty; culinary – baking and hot foods; and advertising design. Donations will be accepted during the event.
