Update COVID-19, March 18, 2020

Good Morning Lake Tech Students, Staff, Families, and Business Partners,

As a result of the Governor’s announcement last evening, students will not be returning to the school campuses until April 15, at the earliest. These are unfamiliar times for all of us at Lake Tech, in our community, and across the nation and we must all work together to meet the challenges we face. We have been in constant communication with the Florida Department of Education as well as the US Department of Education in order to understand what we need to do to serve you in the best way we can. Many of our licensing agencies, national associations, and accrediting bodies have begun providing us the information we need so we can continue instruction.

We will be moving some or all of our instruction to an online format. Each program is different as you can imagine. We are still analyzing what we can do for each one and will be allowed to do for the portions of our programs that are hands on driven. We have a team of experts who will work to develop an online instructional plan that we can put into place. More information will be provided in the coming days.

Please know that we will do everything we can to support you. We will not be flawless in our plan to steer through this pandemic, but we will try to provide as much information and guidance as we move through the unknown. We have always worked together as a family and as a team. We appreciate all of you, your patience, and your understanding.

From Lake County Schools and Lake Technical College:

As we head into Spring Break next week, here are a few reminders regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus:

  • Follow the CDC’s information for travel, and please notify your supervisor if any member of your household goes to any of the countries where community spread of the virus is occurring. Out of an abundance of caution, we ask that you wait for the 14-day incubation period, beginning the day of return to the U.S. to expire before returning to work.
  • The CDC recommends travelers defer all cruise ship travel Employees who cruise despite the recommendation – regardless of the destinations – are asked to self-isolate for 14 days in order to limit interactions with others, beginning on the day you disembark.
  • Continue your practice of healthy habits including frequent handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands; coughing or sneezing into an elbow or using a tissue and placing it immediately in the trash; cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces; avoiding close contact with people who are sick; and staying home when you are sick.
