Lake Technical College graduates Gareth and Jessica Gentry own a seven acre farm in Okahumpka, Florida. The Gentry’s met while in the Professional Culinary Arts & Hospitality program at Lake Tech. After working as chefs in Palm Beach County, the Gentry’s took a personal interest in the quality of the food that they were serving. They took matters into their own hands and have been growing high quality chemical-free food at Bountiful Farms since November 2013.
In addition to owning and operating the farm, the Gentry’s have opened a farm-to-table bistro on the property that the serves their own freshly picked produce. The Lake Tech culinary instructors visited their former student’s farm for a bite to eat, and were extremely impressed by all that their former students have accomplished. “These success stories are why we work so hard, care so much, and try to teach our students all we can!” says chef Ken Koenig who is the department head for Lake Technical College’s Culinary Arts program.
Lake Technical College appreciates the Gentry’s and Bountiful Farms for this opportunity which allows our students and the community the opportunity to see how successful our graduates are, and what a valuable foundation we build here. At Lake Tech we pride ourselves on holding success as a tradition and giving our students the opportunity to learn a career in a year.
