Lake Technical Center is accepting student applications for the spring 2013 term that opens January 22, 2013. Career-Technical programs accepting students include: Accounting Operations, Administrative Office Specialist, Applied Welding Technologies, day and evening,/full & part-time; Auto Collision Repair & Refinishing; Automotive Service Technology 1 & 2; Commercial Foods & Culinary Arts, Cosmetology; Digital Design 1 & 2; Facials Specialty; Medium & Heavy Duty Truck & Bus Technician 1 & 2; Medical Assisting; Nursing Assistant Articulated/Home Health Aide; Patient Care Technician; and Phlebotomy for currently employed healthcare workers.
In addition, Lake Tech offers Nursing Assistant (Articulated) (CNA) class in Mascotte at the former Mascotte Elementary campus. The next class will begin January 22. The 165 hour class meets Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm, and the tuition is approximately $475 plus books and fees. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Visit www.laketech.org to see the dates for the short-term classes offered this term at Lake Tech that include: A/C Foundations; Advanced Artificial Nail Methods; Advanced Hair Extension Methods; Advanced Welding – Aluminum Ally or Pipe; Armed Security Officer “G”; Artistic Welding; BLS First Aid, BLS Health Care Provider CPR or Refresher; 45-hour CDA Renewal (online); Electrical A/C Foundations; Forklift Operator Certification; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Word; Resume Writing; Security Officer “D”; Licensed Water Operator (online) and Waste Water Operator (online); The Inclusive Classroom; and evening Welding. New classes include: How to Use your iPAD (byod); Florida Concealed Weapons; Continuing Education for Licensed Security Officers – Human Relations, Interview and Report Writing, or Security Supervisor. Online courses are available through ed2go and are affordable, fun, and fast.
EMT, Practical Nursing, Fire Fighter, Law Enforcement, and Corrections have specific application deadlines. Contact Lake Tech’s Admissions Office (352-589-2250) or Lake Tech’s Institute of Public Safety (352-742-6463) for specific admissions requirements for these programs.
Financial aid, such as Pell grants and other scholarships, may be available for those who qualify.
Prospective students are strongly encouraged to complete their 2012-2013 financial aid paperwork as soon as possible by securing a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov and then applying online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Adult Education classes, including English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Education Development (GED), and Applied Academics for Adult Education (AAAE), are available day and evening at various locations throughout Lake County.
