All students seeking financial assistance at Lake Technical College must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students are accepted all year. For information about the FSA ID, including how to apply, go to studentaid.gov/help/fsa-idopens in a new window. Your FSA ID allows you to electronically sign your FAFSA. If you are providing parent information, one parent must also sign your FAFSA. To sign electronically, your parent should also apply for an FSA ID.

For many students, financial aid programs are paying educational costs and providing money to help with living expenses. The Financial Aid Office is open Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon.

Students are eligible to apply for financial aid as long as they are enrolled in or currently enrolled in a certificate program. All applications for the current school year must be processed no later than May 30 of that year or prior to the last day of student enrollment, whichever is earliest.

VETERANS BENEFITS

Many programs are approved for VA. Eligible veterans may be certified for VA benefits through the Financial Aid Office.

Lake Tech is able to offer Chapter 33 benefits to eligible veterans!

The Bureau of State Approving Agency for Veteran Training has approved many of the certificate training programs offered at Lake Technical College. Veterans should check with the VA Certifying Official in the Financial Aid Office to apply for or re-activate their VA educational entitlements. All required application forms are available in the Financial Aid Office. The student must bring the completed required forms to the Financial Aid Office with a certified copy of the veteran’s DD214. The documentation is then forwarded to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) for processing. Upon completion of the first day of class, the enrollment certification is reported by the VA Certifying Official to the DVA for processing. It takes a minimum of 4-8 weeks to activate benefits.

The student is eligible for educational benefits for the length of the program as approved by the DVA. The student must check with the school’s VA Certifying Official to verify the DVA’s approval of his/her program length.
