Eustis, FL, August 22, 2016– Lake Technical College and Machining Training Solutions (MTS) in Longwood, FL are partnering to provide educational training for students interested in the CNC manufacturing industry. “This unique public-private partnership will allow Lake Tech and MTS to share expertise and resources with students in Lake County, as well as, the Central Florida region and beyond,” says Lake Tech’s Executive Director, Dr. Diane Culpepper.
MTS is the leading software provider of training for CNC manufacturing companies and educational institutions. As today’s manufacturers compete by leveraging knowledge, the MTS simulation software provides a fast and flexible alternative to traditional machining instruction. The training prepares students for national and international certifications that are recognized world-wide.
During the 240 hour “Advanced Manufacturing Production Specialist” course, participants will learn about safety, maintenance, all manufacturing processes including production, quality, and measurement. They will also be introduced to neutral CNC programming language, structure and use of programming terminology, calculating technical data (fees and speeds), and the organization and flow of simple NC programs.
One of the goals of the partnership will be the establishment of a Lake Technical College campus on the site of the MTS facility in Longwood. This will provide an opportunity for students to experience hands-on training in an environment equipped with state of the art CNC machines in a working production machine shop.
“Our program provides the difficult skill requirements that companies so desperately need,” says Al Stimac, President and CEO of MTS. “We are excited for this partnership with Lake Technical College as we will be able to expand our training so we can meet the need of business and industry.”
The first course started in July, and both Lake Technical College and Machining Training Solutions are excited about what the future holds for the partnership and for the students who go through the program.
